Pharmacy 777 is proud to take part in today’s Sweetheart Giving Day with a $2,000 matched giving for HeartKids’ annual fundraiser.
On 14 February over a 12-hour period, HeartKids seeks to raise $150,000 to help families affected by congenital heart disease (CHD). Every day in Australia, 8 babies are born with a heart defect and sadly 4 young lives are lost to CHD every week. The purpose of Sweetheart Giving Day is to inspire the community to give and provide families with much-needed support.
HeartKids works with corporate donors to match funds raised by the general public and the HeartKids community. Matched giving motivates donors by ensuring their donation has even greater impact, since it is matched by donors who agree to provide support in advance. So far today, donations have exceeded the original target and have surpassed a total of $200,000 which is a remarkable achievement.
“Congenital heart disease is life-threatening and HeartKids seeks to help families in many ways,” says Simon Keen, state manager for HeartKids. “We offer face-to-face or phone support, connecting families who have experienced this dramatic journey, access to information and education, practical advice based on experience, connecting with the HeartKids community and practical assistance, for example, patient travel and food vouchers.”
As a community pharmacy, Pharmacy 777 is passionate about supporting programs that support families struggling with life-changing health challenges.
“As the only national charity dedicated to Australians impacted by congenital childhood heart disease, HeartKids provides practical and emotional support to families affected by this complex disease,” says Jason Brotherson, CEO of Pharmacy 777. “We are proud supporters of community health initiatives and are delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the organisation’s annual flagship event, Sweetheart Day.”
