The partnership between Pharmacy 777 and Telethon has gone from strength to strength. For the third year in a row, our community pharmacy group is honoured to play a key role in helping to make a difference in the lives of children and their families, with a donation of around $100,000.

As Pharmacy 777 marks its 60th anniversary of supporting patient health, our partnership with Telethon continues to grow. It is also integral to our Community Spirit program, which was set up in early 2020 to contribute to important local causes, including Telethon. Through the Community Spirit program, Pharmacy 777 has given back to more than 50 local community causes, including local schools, health initiatives, community clubs and, of course, Telethon.

The announcement of the full donation will be made on Saturday 22nd October during the live telecast. The donation to Telethon this year includes $2,400 from the Community Spirit program and an expected $10,000 from the Sunday Family Festival that takes place on Sunday 23rd October.

Throughout our partnership with Telethon, Pharmacy 777 has found many different ways to fundraise, including pharmacy sales of Fat Cat dolls, available across Pharmacy 777 locations in WA all year round. All the proceeds from those sales go to Telethon.

“Over the past year, our 70 pharmacies across the state have offered their support to the fundraising drive for Telethon. Staff and the community have dug deep to assist the Telethon program, demonstrating their own community spirit and commitment to the Telethon beneficiaries who are helping children in WA with their health care and support needs.”

Telethon: There for those most in need

Telethon weekend begins on Saturday 22nd October, bringing focus to the children in our community who struggle with life threatening diseases and other devastating conditions. The Channel 7 Telethon Trust is a registered charity with a small WA-based team that is focused on the medical and social welfare of children and young people and funds research into children’s diseases. More than 50 different charities are beneficiaries of Telethon fundraising each year.

Generations of Western Australians have grown up with Telethon and have given generously every year to help those most in need. Since its inception, Telethon has raised more than $395 million, thanks to the generosity of the WA community. These funds have contributed to new medical equipment and facilities, life-changing medical research into children’s diseases, essential services for children with disabilities, empowering opportunities for disadvantaged children and vital counselling and support services. 

In 2022, Telethon will be supporting 97 organisations and children's charities that deliver life-changing outcomes for West Australian children. Telethon provides grant funding to: 

• Establish new facilities, medical equipment, aids and devices for children in hospital  
• Undertake medical research into children’s diseases 
• Ensure critical services for children with disabilities 
• Support life-changing opportunities for disadvantaged children 
• Offer counselling and support services
