How men can focus on their health in 2024

14/06/2024

This International Men’s Health Week (June 10-16) we encourage men to take a moment and focus on their own health and what they might need to do to be proactive about it in 2024.

Pharmacists can play an important role in helping men manage their health with preventative health checks and are always available to talk to and offer advice on any health concerns.

Good Health Heroes is a campaign running this Mens Health Week with some great resources about Mens Health and what to look out for.

“As a man I know that sometimes we’re not very good at putting our own health first,” Pharmacy 777 Pharmacy Development Manager, Kristian Ray said.

“But it’s incredibly important that men keep their health checks up to date, so we’re hoping to bring that into the spotlight this Men’s Health week.

“Pharmacists are available to help support men, we can talk to them about heart health, diabetes prevention, and stroke education. We work in collaboration with other health care professionals to make sure that men are achieving optimal health levels.”

Kristian attended the WA Men's Wellbeing Conference, this year’s theme was ‘Nurturing Men’s Mental Wellbeing’.

The conference aimed to elevate the discourse on men’s mental health and overall wellbeing by addressing vital aspects such as men’s emotional health, stress management, relationship dynamics, self-care practices, and how to dismantle societal stigmas surrounding mental health in men.

“It’s very important that men feel they can come to a Pharmacist for support and advice if they have questions about their health or mental health,” Kristian added.

“It’s quick and easy to book in for a 20 minute health check which can give you some insight into chronic conditions that you might be suspectable to over the course of your lifetime.

“Taking that 20 minutes out of your day to have your health checked can give you huge peace of mind and it is a great opportunity to talk to a pharmacist about any health concerns you might have.”
