Pharmacy is constantly evolving, and education is a big part of what sets Pharmacy 777 community pharmacies apart from the rest. As part of our commitment to continuous learning Pharmacy 777 has an ongoing sponsorship arrangement with the University of WA Master of Pharmacy Society (UWAMPS).
Part of this sponsorship for 2023 was a grant that allows pharmacy students to apply to travel to a pharmacy conference of their choice anywhere in Australia.
This allows them to access the latest research, new medications, emerging technologies and pharmacy trends to learn about best practice patient care.
To apply students were asked to create a video or a written submission that outlined what they are passionate about, why they want to be a pharmacist, and how they plan to share the insights from the conference with their cohort.
This year’s winners Taylor Chalmers, Rachel Lawson and Bridget Cleary were awarded at their Pre-Prac Dinner.
“Congratulations to Taylor, Rachel and Bridget. I hope these grants will allow you opportunities for personal and professional growth for yourselves, your peers and the communities you will be practicing in,” Pharmacy 777 Managing Director Kim Brotherson said.
"UWAMPS would like to express our sincere appreciation to Pharmacy 777 for sponsoring three of our students to attend an interstate conference. This support enhances their learning experience and highlights Pharmacy 777's commitment to shaping the future of pharmacy. We value this partnership and the opportunities it provides for our students to develop as pharmacists,” UWAMPS President Alisha Rodrigo said.
One of the winners, Bridget Cleary is absolutely buzzing to attend her first ever pharmacy conference.
“It's an exciting prospect, delving into the vibrant pharmacy community and immersing myself in the wealth of knowledge awaiting at the educational events. I can't wait to connect with fellow professionals, broaden my horizons, and return with fresh insights to enhance my practice. I am very grateful to Pharmacy 777 for the opportunity” Bridget said.
Pharmacy 777 will also be expanding the sponsorship arrangement this year to run two workshops for students on travel health and sleep apnoea, this allows us to really highlight to students the breadth of clinical practice that Pharmacy 777 Pharmacists and Interns are exposed to.
More recently Pharmacy 777 are sponsoring a new podcast the UWAMPS team have launched, Australian Pharmacy Careers Podcast – Pharmacy Student Bridget Cleary is interviewing pharmacists in a range of roles, asking the questions all the questions you wish you knew as a student.
