Your voice. Your choice this Women’s Health Week

4/09/2024

At Pharmacy 777 we understand that Women’s health is important and as part of Women’s Health Week 2024 (September 2-6) we are offering support to women all over Australia.

This year’s campaign ‘Your voice. Your choice’, celebrates the power of women’s choices and voices and highlights why women need to be heard, especially in terms of their health concerns.

“Women’s health week is about empowering women to take action about their health,” Pharmacy 777 Pharmacist Jaye Burns said.

“Women are often the primary caregivers and the hub of a family. Often, I find they prioritise the needs of their family before their own. The accessibility of a pharmacist is an asset in making a difference to women who may have put their health concerns on hold. Making sure they are looking after their health is essential so that they can support the people around them.

“It’s amazing to see changes happening that are providing women with more autonomy around their health. Easy access to UTI treatments and Oral Contraceptive Pill (OCP) repeats are revolutionary in a pharmacy setting.”
Women are now able to walk into their local Pharmacy 777 to access convenient and immediate treatment for symptoms of uncomplicated UTI in a private consultation room, turning a potentially debilitating condition into something easily treatable.

777 Pharmacists can also resupply the Oral Contraceptive Pill to women under certain circumstances.
These are great examples of the way community pharmacy can support women in accessing timely and professional health services.

“Women's health week is a time to recognise progression in supporting women's health but also a reminder to check in with the women in our lives.”

This Women’s Health Week aims to lift the lid on shame and raise the voice of women who feel unheard.
Every year, Women’s Health Week brings together community groups and workplaces across the country to support women’s health and promote access to health information.

Last year’s event saw half a million participants get involved, at 1,500 events across Australia.
This year, new consumer health resources including fact sheets, checklists and health charts on key women’s health topics like pelvic pain, hormones and heart health will provide women and gender diverse people with the information they need to make informed health decisions.
